Tim Hudson is hoping to rejoin the Atlanta Braves by the end of the month, and he took a step closer Saturday night when he threw three pain free innings for Class-A Rome Saturday night.

Hudson gave up two runs (one earned) and four hits in his three frames against the Charleston Riverdogs. Two of the hits were infield hits by Dante Bichette, Jr.

The next scheduled start will be Thursday for Rome's home opener against Charleston. He will throw 60-65 pitches and aim to complete four innings.

Hudson is recuperating from back surgery on Nov. 28 and hopes to be back in the Atlanta starting rotation in time for the series with the Pittsburg Pirates April 27-30.
