Jason Heyward is showing signs of his 2010 self again, most recently Friday night when his grand slam was the difference as the Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros 9-5.
Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez retired the first two batters of the game, but the Braves strung together five two-out hits en route to a five-run first inning. Heyward's grand slam was his second homer in three days. Michael Bourn then ended Rodriguez's day in the fourth with his own two-run homer.
Tommy Hanson put together a mostly solid performance in his own right, though former Brave Jordan Schaefer doubled to start the game, followed by an RBI-single from Travis Buck. Buck also hit a homer off Hanson in the third inning.
The Braves turned 13 hits in what may have been a turning point for the offense this spring. Every starter except Andrelton Simmons had at least one hit.
