Atlanta Braves reliever Arodys Vizcaino had a Tommy John scare in 2010; he is now hoping his latest incident is only a scare after developing pain in his throwing elbow.

The 21-year-old has not pitched since experiencing pain in his elbow March 3 against the Detroit Tigers. An MRI a few days later revealed the inflammation, and he will be further evaluated by the Braves training staff over the next few days.

In 2010, Vizcaino seemed on the fast track for Tommy John surgery when he partially tore a tendon in his elbow, but after resting through the summer, he was hitting the mid-90s on the radar gun in the Instructional League in September.

Vizcaino then started 2011 at A-Advanced Lynchburg, was then converted to a reliever in July and spent the final two months in Atlanta's bullpen.

Vizcaino is ranked the Braves' second best prospect by MLB.com.
