Liberty Media purchased the Atlanta Braves in 2007, and they are showing no interest in selling the team.

Braves chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk told ajc.com that even though Liberty Media has met the minimum four and a half years of ownership from their agreement to purchase the club, the company sees "just no need to sell.”

Liberty Media agreed with Major League Baseball to not have an operating role in the team and set up McGuirk as what MLB calls the Braves' "control person."

McGuirk also noted that while the Braves are currently 15th in the majors in income, Liberty is willing to not make a profit now with the expectation the the resell value will increase in the future.

“We do exist in a world where if you operate this way for a few years and if you were to sell the team, it does seem to be worth more,” McGuirk said. “Exactly why is an unknown, but it’s part of the economic system."
