The Seattle Mariners have signed former Atlanta Braves pitcher George Sherrill. The one-year deal is worth $1.1 million, plus incentives.

The 34-year-old veteran spent last season with the Braves. The left-handed specialist allowed lefties to hit .256 against him, and he surrendered only one walk in 81 plate appearances. He compiled a 3.00 ERA over 51 appearances.

Sherrill returns to the team with which he broke into the Major Leagues in 2004.
