The Atlanta Braves have officially released their 2012 season schedule, one that is sure to scratch some heads and provide excitement.
The Braves will begin the season on April 5 in a road series against the New York Mets and will not have their home opener until April 13 in a series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Atlanta's interleague schedule is the most perplexing of all, as the Braves will play six total interleague series. Of those six series, two will be against the powerhouse New York Yankees and the other four will be against the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. the matchup with the Rays will be held in May and the Braves will not see an American League team again until June. In June, the Braves will play nothing but interleague games from June 8-24 as Toronto, Baltimore and New York will be participants in a nine-game, ten day home stand before Atlanta goes on the road for one series in New York followed by the Braves' final interleague series in Boston.
The Braves regular season will conclude in the beginning of October in Pittsburgh against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
