The Atlanta Braves will interview former Chicago White Sox hitting coach Greg Walker during the next week. Walker, who served as the White Sox hitting coach for 8 1/2 seasons following his promotion from Triple-A Charlotte in 2003, resigned from his position after the 2011 season.

Walker drew heavy criticism for the prolonged struggles of Gordon Beckham and Alex Rios during the last two seasons as well as Adam Dunn's poor 2011 campaign.

Walker played from 1982-1990 with the White Sox and Baltimore Orioles, hitting .260 with 113 home runs and 444 RBIs over his career. The 52-year-old Georgia native will also interview with the San Diego Padres for the same position.

The Braves fired hitting coach Larry Parrish at the conclusion of their 2011 season. It was Parrish's first year as hitting coach.
