Chipper Jones returned to Atlanta on Wednesday for a non-emergency surgery for one of his sons, ajc.com reports.
Though the Atlanta Braves divulged no details, Fredi Gonzalez did say that the absence had been preapproved a couple of weeks ago, resulting in Martin Prado moving to third base and Jose Constanza starting left field.
Jones apparently felt comfortable enough with the situation to rejoin the team during the second inning of Wednesday's game against the Florida Marlins.
