Instead of starting a rehabilitation assignment with Class A-Rome tonight, Chipper Jones has pushed back the start of playing rehab games, citing the knee is, "Just not there yet."
Jones worked out Thursday with Triple-A Gwinnett before what would be a stint of DHing with Rome starting tonight, but that will now be delayed a couple of days. Though he no longer feeling the discomfort he played through in his surgically repaired meniscus, it seems that Jones still needs to time to rebuild his strength.
Jones had arthroscopic surgery on the knee on July 9 and originally hoped to be return in time for the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
