With Martin Prado's return on the horizon and the pain in his right knee increasing, Chipper Jones went under the knife Saturday at 3:00 p.m. to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, braves.com reports.
Jones underwent a surgical procedure in Atlanta and is expected to return in two to three weeks. After looking at the damage, Dr. Marvin Royster was surprised he had been able to continue playing the past couple weeks.
Jones decided to go ahead with the surgery and DL move because his discomfort is worse while hitting right-handed. The Phillies had two left-handed pitchers scheduled Saturday and Sunday, and the All-Star break will eat four days out of the minimum 15 he has to sit out.Tags: Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, Chipper Jones, MLB
