Martin Prado probably will not be back for the Atlanta Braves before the All-Star Game, but he may be taking another step toward his return to big league action on Wednesday.
Prado is scheduled to test his leg strength with the team's physical therapist Wednesday morning. If all goes to plan, he will travel to Charlotte to begin a five to six-game rehab stint, starting with Triple-A Gwinnett. Gwinnett's All-Star break begins Monday, so Prado would then work another few games with Double-A Mississippi. He would then return to the Braves when they host the Washington Nationals on July 15.
Prado has not played since June 9 with a staph infection in his leg. He was hitting .277 with eight home runs and 33 RBI in the 61 games he had played.
