Martin Prado was cleared by team doctors to start swinging off a tee Friday, atlantabraves.com reports. It is the first time since being diagnosed with a staph infection in his leg on June 9 that Prado has been cleared to do anything baseball related.
Prado will again hit off a tee Sunday and was cleared to begin weight training to regain upper body strength last week.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez says Prado may be able to return before the All-Star break, but the cut on his leg will have to completely heal before Prado will be allowed to resume on-field activities.
