Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward arrived in Atlanta Wednesday and said he is ready to play tonight, MLB.com reports.
The 21-year-old Heyward has been on the disabled list since May 22 with a sore right shoulder, which had plagued him since Spring Training. He rehabbed the shoulder at the Braves' Spring Training complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Though he only went 1-for-7 for Triple-A Gwinnett, Heyward said his shoulder responded well.
Heyward is hitting .214 with seven home runs this year. He had just hit a hot streak – hitting .400 in the final eight games of April – before going 4-for-41 in May. He is expected to immediately bolster an ailing Atlanta offense.
